JAMES HICKS, President

James V. Hicks, Jr. is the long time president of the Association.  Prior to his tenure with SCBA, Jay held several interesting career stops.  He was Vice President of Government Relations at Bank of America, was in private practice as an attorney and went to Washington to work for US Senator Strom Thurmond.  During college and law school his passion for politics lead him to become aide de camp to former South Carolina Speaker Sol Blatt.  Few people are lucky enough to have direct experience learning from two icons.  Jay got that chance and those lessons have served him well.  Jay received both his  J.D. and B.S. in Accounting from the University of South Carolina.

KATHRYN WYLIE, Lobbyist 

Kathryn Wylie is a 2020 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.S  in Marketing and Management.  She was active in her sorority serving as Chapter President of Delta Delta Delta and is still active as a Chapter Advisor.  Upon graduation she came to work for the Association and found her calling. She worked in her first years as a Legislative Assistant while completing her Professional MBA back at her Alma Mater.  Kathryn is now Legislative Director making sure all bills are identified, tracked and relayed to our membership.  Kathryn is also in her second year as a registered lobbyist, representing the beverage industry through education and advocacy. She has special interest in health and sustainability science.
